Floating high above Meridell is the mobile fortress known as the Darigan Citadel. It is relatively barren due to the after effects of a curse but that does not mean it is not worth checking out. While much of the war is known to Neopians, the land since then has often remained a mystery despite their relatively strong Altador Cup team. We are hoping to shine a spotlight on this fascinating locale and perhaps spark an interest for your next vacation destination. Areas of Historical Signifigance Lord Darigan’s Chambers So much of Darigan Citadel is tied up in early Neopian history that we need to start off with the two most important places on the land that discuss this Neopian history and the importance of the Citadel – and why it’s not all just barren land and gothic aesthetic. This is where the current (and redeemed) ruler Lord Darigan was restored to power after Lord Kass’ coup. But what happened leading up to that moment? Let’s revisit our Neopian History: Champions of Meridell War. Champions of Meridell lasted nearly the entirety of year 4. The plot was about four friends named Lisha, Kayla, Morris, and Boris stumbled into an ancient mystery after discovering a magical painting linked to Lisha’s lost brother, Jeran. Their search led them to ruins where a burst of strange magic transported them to the medieval land of Meridell. They were then caught in a war over a powerful magical orb. They learned that the orb had been stolen from Lord Darigan, whose forces attacked Meridell to reclaim it, only for him to become corrupted by dark magic and threaten both lands. In the end, the combined armies defeated the possessed Darigan, the orb shattered, and a fragile truce was formed between Meridell and the Darigan Citadel. Darigan Colouring Visiting this page will provide you with colouring pages that show some of the most important scenes from the Battle for Meridell, part two of revisiting important Neopian History: the Battle for Meridell War. This plot was a sequel to the Champions of Merridell plot and lasted for over 3 months in year 6. After the uneasy truce between Meridell and Darigan Citadel, Lord Kass seized power in the Citadel and erased all traces of former Lord Darigan. Lord Kass ultimately manipulated his people into hating Meridell. Meanwhile, a mysterious creature rescued by a girl named Sally turned out to be the missing Lord Darigan (recovering in secret). Kass was influenced by The Three and bewitched Meridell's king through the Court Dancer, and ultimately launched a surprise invasion. Lord Darigan eventually returned, helped to defeat Kass, and restored peace between Meridell and Darigan Citadel which continues through today. Games Cellblock Deep within the dungeons of the Darigan Citadel, you will find the undeniably evil prison warden named Master Vex. Master Vex entertains himself by making his inmates play a game he created: Cellblock. He teases his prisoners by claiming that anyone who manages to defeat him will earn their freedom. Suspiciously, none of the prisoners have ever won a match, so who knows if Master Vex is telling the truth. Cellblock is categorized as a puzzle game, in which you have to get five pieces in a row before your opponent does. There are eight tournaments/opponents you face: Clop, Barallus, Squire Meekel, The Yellow Knight, Number Five, Galgarrath, Haskol, and Master Vex himself. Each opponent will increase in difficulty and as such you will have to win more matches per tournament, but there are certainly different strategies you can use to outsmart the challenger. Don’t forget to watch what the opponent is doing and block them when you can. After you play a total of 300 games of Cellblock, you will be rewarded with an avatar. You win a runner-up medal after tournament 1 level 4, the bronze trophy after tournament 1 level 8, the silver trophy after tournament 11 level 4, and the gold trophy after tournament 11 level 8. Petpet Arena The Petpet Arena is a Battledome where you can bring your Petpets and face some of the fiercest opponents in Neopia! There are over thirty different opponents you and your Petpet can face. Within the Petpet Arena, your Petpets can test their strength, earn bragging rights when they are victorious, and even increase their level. Petpet Battles are a lot simpler than Neopet Battles, as there are no faerie abilities or equipment. Additionally, since there are very limited ways that you can train or level your Petpet outside of battling you just need to bring your Petpet and try your luck! You can either shield yourself, do a body blow, or do a head shot on your turn. Your shield has a chance to do a small amount of damage reflection and has a chance to heal you. Each match you win will gain you 1 point, and each match you lose will remove 1 point. After each match your current score will be displayed which will show your win/loss ratio. Your points do not carry over day to day and you can play a maximum of 33 battles per day, so you will really need to plan your strategy carefully to maximize your scores. Your high score updates when your Petpet levels up. Your Petpet can level up after 10 points, and from there your high score is dependent upon your win/loss ratio. If you earn a score that is high enough, there is even a trophy to be earned from the Petpet Arena. Shopping Darigan Toys Visit this shop to find some less than cheerful toys for sale! Although he seems a little intimidating, and frankly so do some of his toys, he just wants to make toys and see young ones and young ones at heart smile. His shop is perfect for all the goths in your life and he makes interesting souvenirs. You can spruce up your Neohome’s bookshelves with figures like the Darigan Hissi Collectable Figurine or Darigan Wocky Action Figure. There are also all sorts of various toys for Neopets of all ages such as the Wooden Pull Along Darigan Lupe, Wind Up Lord Darigan, Darigan Hasee Ball, and if you’re feeling cuddly the Darigan Meepit Plushie would do nicely. If you prefer games you can find such treasures such as the Cellblock Home Version as a commemorative piece of your time here or grab a set of Darigan Playing Cards for your long trip back home. Minions of Darigan Visit the Minions of Darigan page to take a look at how your Neopet will look if you use a Darigan Paint Brush on them. Note that this is a bit of an older location, pre-conversion, so you may notice that the pets here look closer to Umbra’s style than what a pet may look like if you were to actually paint them today. Darigan Paint Brushes were originally found in Lord Darigan’s floating citadel, but you can visit The Hidden Tower and pick one up for 1,400,000 NP. On Discount Day you can get it for 1,358,000 NP. Umbra has also been inspired by Darigan Citadel and the Minions of Darigan location. They have learned how to make Nostalgic and Daunting Darigan Pet Styles because of this. They will do so occasionally as long as you have Styling Studio Supplies or Deluxe Styling Studio Supplies which can be picked up at the NC Mall. Additionally, if you have a Styling Studio Prismatic Brush they can also recolour the Pet Style in Amethyst, Cobalt, Crimson, or Onyx depending on the species. Be sure to visit Umbra when they have Darigan in their shop if you want to get your pet looking their worst in the best way possible. Conclusion We hope you enjoyed this tour through the Darigan Citadel. Hopefully you learned something about this fascinating place. Despite its desolate land it has a rich and important history that may make you think twice about dismissing it as your next vacation destination. Be sure to book an excursion today!
